I get this periodically in our exchange server event log. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am running wss 3.0 in a virtual box. There is no problem wioth wss relaying email to users. But i recelty discovered following log in my exchange server, which is causing exchange server to crash. abc@abc.com is the email it kee looping. Also i checked it is not running multiple smtp server.

    A non-delivery report with a status code of 5.3.5 was generated for recipient rfc822;abc@abc.com<mailto:abc@abc.com> (Message-ID <6A7AD53A25217A4991EAE3F9E8FA26400258C6BF@XXX02.XXX.local<mailto:6A7AD53A25217A4991EAE3F9E8FA26400258C6BF@XXX02.XXX.local>>).

Causes: A looping condition was detected. (The server is configured to route mail back to itself). If you have multiple SMTP Virtual Servers configured on your Exchange server, make sure they are defined by a unique incoming port and that the outgoing SMTP port configuration is valid to avoid looping between local virtual servers.
