Deploying RODC"s RRS feed

    This is my scenario.

    1. main office
    2. 3 branch offices.

    Im upgrading them from 2003-2008 functional level. My question is I will have a DC at each branch office. After i adprep/ rodcprep and install a RODC at each branch office what do i do with the existing DC"s do I just demote them and then the RODC takes over? We were planning of having 2 DC's at our main office using failover.

    Is it wise to have two RODC's in branch offices? Can you failover cluster them too?

    Hi,

    Yes, you need to demote the existing DC, then promote the server to be RODC.

    In my opinion, it is not necessary to have two RODCs in a branch office.

    When your talking about demoting you mean to dcpromo the current 2k8 dc after ive installed the RODC?

    Hi,

    I mean you need to demote the DC and then promote the server to RODC, if you want to conver a writable DC to RODC.
