How to delete a MP that has the Default MP as a dependency?

Question

I am trying to delete the Windows Client Vista Operating Systems MP amongst others but I cannot because it tells me the Default MP depends on it...!
I have run an overrides report and there are no overrides saved in the Default MP.
How do I delete the Windows Client Vista Operating System MP?

Hi
What has probably happened is that at some time in the past someone saved overrides to the default management pack. They then deleted the overrides but this won't delete all references from the default management pack.
What you need to do is work through the default management pack and clean it up.

Hi,
You may refer to the following article:
How to Remove a Management Pack

If any other imported management packs depend on the management pack you are trying to remove, the Dependent Management Packs error message displays. You must remove the dependent management packs before you can continue.

Hi,
I had the same problem once. Accidentally I had stored an override in the default MP. I deleted it and stored it in another MP and thought, the problem was gone. But it was not.
When I then wanted to delete the MP I had made the override to, it complained in the same way, that I had to delete the default MP first. [This had happened to me before, and when I did, some standard views disappeared together with the default MP. 8-( ]
What you can try: export the default MP. (This does not do any harm.) Look into it with the editor of your choice. I assume, there is still the reference to the ".. Vista .." management pack you want to uninstall.
I then did the following: remove the dependency to the other MP and store the (now modified) exported default MP. Delete the default MP from SCOM and then immediately import the modified default MP (without the reference to the other MP).
After that I could delete the MP (in your case the ".. Vista .." MP) without problem.
I hope, this helps.
