Win2K3 RRAS and Win2K R2 RAS coexistance

    Question

  • Hello,

We have MS Windows 2003 server which has Routing and Remote Access installed.

I want to install RAS on a MS Windows 2008 R2. If I install this will it affect the current production RRAS server (on MS windows 2003) which is used for VPN.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

What is the new RAS used for?

Generally, RAS on windows server 2008 r2 shouldn’t have any impact on another server that has RRAS installed.

  • Hi,

    Sorry for the delay.

This means you have two separate VPN server. If you have two public IP for the two VPN servers, there won’t be any problem. But if both the two servers are behind a NAT, then you cannot deploy VPN which uses a same port. Because we have only one port on NAT device.
