Can't get my headset's microphone to work RRS feed

  • Question

  • I ordered a headset a couple of weeks ago (this one https://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/0.html?orderId=81803151220389&productId=32435718160), and I only just got it 2 days ago. I had to get a male to double female adapter because my laptop only has one jack, so I got this https://www.jaycar.com.au/3-5mm-4-pole-plug-to-2-x-3-5mm-socket-lead-250mm/p/WA7020

I tried plugging the headset into the corresponding colours on the adapter, but only the headphone part of my headset seems to work. When I go into the control panel, sound, then manage audio devices and look at the playback tab, all it shows is the default speakers. I tried to change my default mic on the realtek hd audio manager program, but 'set default device' button is greyed out. It is a chinese headset, and they're not the most reliable so it could just not work, but just in case there is a way to fix this I thought I may as well ask anyway.

  • Hi,

Firstly, open Device Manager to check your audio driver, right-click it and select Update Driver Software.

If no help, download and install the latest Realtek HD audio manager from official website then test again.

I search online and find a similar case may help you.
