Creating an alert for a group when a list item is "asigned" to that group RRS feed

    I have a list that I use to manage the processing of work packages. One of the columns highlights who the work package is asigned to. These are set up using groups to represent the delivery teams. ie there are three processes involved in Process A is delivered by Team 1, Process B by team 2 and so on.

    When the work package is received it is asigned to Team 1 by way of a group that comprises all the members of team 1. Once they have completed the work package they then asign it to team 2 by way of changin the group to group 2.

    I want to set up the list so that when the asigned column is set to a particular group it sends an alert to all members of the group to say that a work package has been asigned to them.

    Any help would be much appreciated.

    I would suggest you to create a sharepoint workflow and set the triggering as item created or item modified as per your requirement and then use it to send alert to your group.
