windows 2008 server firewall RRS feed

  • Question

  • hi,

i'm running windows 2008 server standard edition.

i have tomcat 5.5.27 running from the batch startup.bat at present with JDK 1.6 on http port 80 and https on port 443

i cannot get the firewall to let remote clients through on ports 80 or 443. if i have the inbound rule already setup for IIS on port 80 then i can see that from a remote client so connectivity is there if i can just get the correct firewall rules !!!!!

i have tried adding a separate rule for port 80 and one for 443, either with any profile or public profile as thats active, but no look - i get  a connection exception and a port scan shows 80 and 443 are not open.

can someone please help as i'm pulling my hair out with something so simple !

  • Hi Krusty7,

    Thanks for posting here.

According to your description, you may enable the Windows Firewall Audit Events in Windows 2008 Server to check the related firewall event logs when a remote client is failed to access port 80 and 443.

To Enable IPsec and Windows Firewall Audit Events, Please refer to the article:

Also please run “netstat –an” in a command line to verify that the port 80 and 443 are in listening status.
