WSUS client configurations RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello.

I'm setting up a WSUS server for our lab.

The server is all set up and working, clients get updates really fast, but i'm trying to make the clients go to the windows update server in case my WSUS server is down.

I couldn't find any info about how to configure this.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Not sure if this specific configuration is possible with WSUS 3.0 . In my experience, WSUS servers are typically self sufficient provided you give them enough disk-space if you're caching update data locally.

Also, if WSUS server "goes down" it's not really a high-impact service that would impede day-to-day business.

With that said, i'm not sure WSUS 3.0 is the ideal tool for this scenario. Maybe SCCM would provide some more robust tools to accomplish this goal?
