Windows 7 activated, but "not genuine" RRS feed

  • Question

  • 170t that was delivered with Windows 7 Home Premium.   About  a year ago I upgraded to Windows 7 Professional.  No problems until about a week ago, when I  started getting messages that the  computer is not  running genuine  windows.  An attempt to "resolve" the  issue caused a number of windows features to be diabled (including  updates) and took me to MS site where I could buy a new copy of windows.  Re-activation did not fix the problem either.  Results from the MGA diagnostic tool are shown below.

I'm not sure what  to do next...any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • This may simply be caused by a bad set of Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers - Installing the Intel Rapid Storage Drivers try downloading and installing them from here - https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=22194  (you want the iata_enu.exe download).   Once complete, please reboot twice, then post another MGADiag report.

  • When you say it has recurred, how do you know?  Are you getting the black background with the notice in the corner?  If that is the only thing that is indicating non-genuine try manually setting the background.  How many times did you reboot after applying the Intel driver?  This report is showing as good - it may also be an overly eager anti virus program if you are getting the notice sporadically.

  • Also if you are getting the notification on regular basis, please re-run the diagnostic when you are seeing the message.  As I mentioned the one above is showing a valid OS install.

  • Hi,

In this case, I would suggest to activate Windows by telephone in this way:

1.Open Windows Activation by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, right-clicking Computer, clicking Properties, and then clicking Activate Windows now.‌

2.Click Show me other ways to activate.

3.Type your Windows 7 product key, and then click Next.

4.Click Use the automated phone system.

5.Click the location nearest you from the drop-down list, and then click Next.

6.Call one of the available phone numbers listed. An automated system will guide you through the activation process.

7.When prompted, enter the installation ID that's listed on your screen into your phone's keypad.

8.Write down the confirmation ID that the phone system gives you.

9.Type the confirmation ID into the space provided in the activation dialog, click Next, and then follow the instructions.

10.If activation isn't successful, stay on the line to be transferred to a customer service representative who can assist you.

    Details as below:
