Conferencing Lync 2010 and Lync 2013 clients? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have a question on how conferencing will work like powerpoint presentation when using different client versions.

Lync 2013 uses OWA's for presenting ppts right?

Lync 2010 renders the ppts on the client?

So how will it work if attendees are using different clients? will it be the method of the starting client?

  • Hi,

For users who run Lync 2010, PowerPoint presentations are displayed by using the PowerPoint 97-2003 format and they are viewed by using an embedded copy of the PowerPoint viewer.

Office Web Apps Server does not provide PowerPoint services for users running clients other than Lync 2013. Instead, those users connect to the Conferencing server service and view PowerPoint presentations the same way they did in Microsoft Lync Server 2010.
