Issue encountered after disable PCT, SSL & TLS 1.0 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm patching the server to address the vulnerability assessment. I've a server which is multi-role. It act as a Web & Database server.

    Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard SP1

    Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (RTM) - 10.50.1600.1 (x64) (Build 7601 Service Pack 1)

    .Net Framework 4.5.2

    I disable PCT 1.0, SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0 & TLS 1.0 and enable TLS 1.1 & 1.2

The SQL services are not able to start after this.

I install the security update as provided by Microsoft. Following are what I installed.

    SQL Server 2008 R2 SP3

    SQL Server 2008 R2 SP3 TLS 1.2 Update

    ADO.NET - sqlclient

    SQL Server Native Client

But problem persist, the SQL services are not starting unless i enable back TLS 1.0.

May I know can anyone provide some advice or help to me?

    Thank you very much.

  • Hi Loke,

I'm not familiar with SQL server. After a quick search, it seems that SQL servers supports TLS 1.2 recently.

Please make sure that the SQL server has been patched to the latest version.
