Frequent Configuration Baseline Evaluation RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm trying to use desired configurations to monitor and report on the status of software rollouts. This is just in a testing environment and I'm currently trying to find my feet with SCCM, so I'm not sure I've got this all quite right:

    • Create package/program to be deployed
    • Create a configuration item and baseline for that package to monitor if it is installed or not
    • Create a collection that queries machines that aren't compliant with the baseline, and set up an advertisement to the collection to install the not installed software
    • In the collection of machines I want the package deploying to, I assign the associated baseline

    Which should trigger:

    • Client receives compliance evaluation request
    • Evaluation fails
    • Client is added to collection of machines that require install
    • Client recieves a mandatory advertisement and installs software
    • Client should now be compliant and disappear from "to install" collection

This all works great most of the time. But I'm finding the evaluation of configuration baselines doesnt seem to happen to schedule. Once the package has been installed, it takes a long time for the client to show as compliant again - many hours. This is despite having a rapid evaluation schedule - I'm telling SCCM agents to evaluate the baseline once every 5 mins.

Is there anything I can do to speed this up?
