Edit option not coming in dropdown context menu for PDF documents in sharepoint 2007 RRS feed

  • Hi,

    Edit option not coming in drop down context menu for PDF documents in my machine. But it is coming in other machines.

    My machine software information are  -

      1. Operating System Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Version 5.1 Service Pack 3
    2. IE version             7  (7.0.5730.13)
    3. PDF version         ADOBE READER 9, Version 9.3.2.

    Please let me know how i can bring the Edit option for PDF in sharepoint 2007.

    The Edit option item sould be configured on SharePoint server side, add below one line code in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\XML\DOCICON.XML file,

    <Mapping Key="pdf" Value="icpdf.gif" EditText="Adobe Acrobat" OpenControl="SharePoint.OpenDocuments" />

    I understand that the "Edit option" is displayed in other machines, but not in your PC.

    You can check whehter you have edit permission on that library.  And check result after repairing the Adobe Reader.

    And you can click item Title link itself and open .pdf file with Adobe reader, through disable the option "Display PDF in browser" via Adobe Reader->Edit->Perferences->Internet.
