FCS - A couple of Questions RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm currently in the process of deploying FCS .......I have a couple of questions,

I have an SQL 2005 License available but I'd like to know if I purchase the license for the Security Management console without SQL, does this license cover the MOM installation thats comes with FCS.

We currently have SCCM 2007 infrastructure. Is it possible to just have the Security Management Console and associated FCS DB's on one server and then use the SCCM to distribute updates and deploy the agent. Do I need MOM at all ?

I will be using a single sever topology.

Sorry, I have read up on the subject but am still slightely confused.

    Many Thanks

Microsoft Forefront Client Security Management Console

This version of the Management Console does not include SQL Server 2005

$98 US per server, per year

  • Hi!

    1. I have an SQL 2005 License available but I'd like to know if I purchase the license for the Security Management console without SQL, does this license cover the MOM installation thats comes with FCS.

Yes, the MOM that is bundled with FCS is included. no extra license needed.

    2. Is it possible to just have the Security Management Console and associated FCS DB's on one server and then use the SCCM to distribute updates and deploy the agent. Do I need MOM at all ?

Yes, you can use sccm (with integrated WSUS) to distribute updates and deploy the fcs client, hoever you need MOM to handle communication with the installed client and the FCS server, so mom is needed if you want to manage your clients once they are installed.
