Sharepoint 2003 installation RRS feed

  • Question

  • Following the replies from the post  http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointgeneral/thread/29f61da3-0fcd-4202-8d4b-b8708d4691de I would like to ask some further questions/answers and please correct me if I am wrong.

    1. Install Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x64

    2. Proceed with the following steps in this thread http://support.microsoft.com/kb/905854/en-us

    3. However before installing SP - install SQL server 2005  Enterprise x64

    4. Proceed with steps in above thread (link)

    5. Once the above have been installed - installation should be complete.

Can one then install Office 2003 on server or no need? Also, should one install anything else on server?

I just want to confirm the above so I can confirm that the installation will be complete and correct. Thanks.

  • That’s it. You don't need to install Office 2003 on the server.

As an additional step you can install an antivirus but exclude SharePoint files from it because you will have performance issues.

    Also do not enable:

    - /3GB switch – is not supported http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933560

    - Web gardens – http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822171/ IIS 6.0 Session State May Be Lost If You Use Web Gardens with ASP Applications
