Email accounts are not being created after moving roles to 2008 server RRS feed

  • Hi,

    I have a very serious issue and I was wondering anyone can help me.  I recently performed adprep domain and forest prep, everything went well,  and then I introduced a 2008 DC server. After few weeks then I moved the FSMO roles to the new 2008 server.  I still have to old FSMO role holder but it is turned off (it is a 2003 box).  The problem is when I create an account in AD, the mailbox is not being created in exchange server so basically I can create anymore mail boxes.  Please help.

  • But after you created account in ADUC you should go to exchange management console and create a mailbox for that account manually, try that approach and it should work fine.

  • @David - As mentioned by Krystian, how are you creating the accounts?  I assume you are using the ADUC on the Exchang server or have the extensions installed on another server/PC which has ADUC?

    What version of Exchange are you using (include SP)?

    How are you trying to create the mailboxes?

    Have you successfully moved all FSMO roles?

    What error are you getting?

    Apart from creating mailboxes, is Exchange functioning? i.e can you send and receive emails?

  • Exchange server 2003 SP2.

    I am using AD to created the accounts.

    I moved the FSMO roles over using nddsutil.  I checked all roles transfered to new 2008 server.

    I checked the event log and I did not see any errors except the exchange server indicates that it can not communicate to my old 2003 box.  Please note that I simply shutdown the old 2003 server just in case I have to bring it back on line.

    Exchange is working fine, the whole company is sending and receiving fine.
