how to disabe MOSS help pages exposed over the internet RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hello,

In an internet facing site. the user can go to: http:www.internetsitemoss.com/_layoutrs/help.aspx?cid0=.....

    and see the help files.

I was thinking of dissabling this by using permission on help.aspx. Is there another way?

  • Thank you,

Where is that in MOSS? In central Administration, site features or site collection features? I can't find it.

  • On the Site Actions menu, click Site Settings. Under Site Collection Administration, click Site Collection Features. The Site Collection Features page opens. For the Custom Site Collection Help option, click Deactivate.

  • There's  custom site collection help in moss-2010 but not in moss-2007.

  • Sorry for that, out of scope to 2007

    MOSS 2007

Run the following commands from a command prompt:

    cacls "%ProgramFiles%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\Help.aspx" /E /P everyone:N

    cacls "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\Help.aspx" /E /P everyone:N

Impact of workaround: This workaround will disable all help functionality from the SharePoint server.
