Scale-set pre-scale-down hook? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm trying to auto-scale Presto (from Facebook).  It's a distributed SQL query engine.

It has a graceful shutdown endpoint which will make it shut down after the last of its current work is completed (to avoid causing errors).

Is there some way to make Azure Scale Sets call a hook before shutting down nodes (for scaling back) to give them time to clean up?

Almost every application in existence requires graceful shut down to avoid hurting active workloads.  If scale sets doesn't support a mechanism like this it seems like the auto scaling features aren't very useful for production workloads.
