  • Hello,

    Glad to help.

At first, can your clients contact the WSUS server? or they can show up in console but can not report their status. Do you use a proxy?

    1. Check GPO. Check if your clients are point to correct address of WSUS with correct port. It should be http://WSUS:8530 for example.

    2. Make sure that the WSUS agent service and BITs are running on your clients.

3.Check the connectivity. Turn off firewall, ping FQDN of WSUS, check the result. On your client, check following link:

    http://WSUSServerName/selfupdate/wuident.cab

where WSUSServerName is the name of the WSUS server. You should be prompted to download or open wuident.cab.

    4. Try following script in elevated CMD on the clients.

    net stop bits
    net stop wuauserv
    reg delete "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate" /v AccountDomainSid /f
    reg delete "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate" /v PingID /f
    reg delete "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate" /v SusClientId /f
    reg delete "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate" /v SusClientIDValidation /f
    rd /s /q "C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution"
    net start bits
    net start wuauserv
    wuauclt /resetauthorization /detectnow
    usoclient.exe startscan

    Look forwards to your feedback.

    Best Regards,

    Ray Jia

  • Hi Ray

i followed your steps and at third point I checked the link http://ca-wsus.carma.locale/selfupdate/wuident.cab with no result (Internet Explorer show service unavaible"

So I tried to reinstall completely Win2016Server and WSUS role but it's the same.

Some PC\Server reports correctly and after few minutes Wsus console crash with this error

System.Net.WebException -- Request failed with HTTP status code 503: Service Unavailable.

  • Hi

    I found the problem:

In IIS configuration there is a RAM Limit. I set it to infite e schedule a refresh every 30minutes

  • Glad you got it sorted. Don't forget to run the proper WSUS maintenance including but not limited to running the Server Cleanup Wizard (SCW), declining superseded updates, running the SQL Indexing script, etc. on a regular basis.
