  • Hey,

If you mean to upgrade in these different steps, then use the upgrade advisor for DPM

If you are really talking about upgrading your licenses, then check out the helpfull post from Jason:

  • Hi Mike,

I have different copies of DPM (2007, RC and RTM)

I downloaded VL copy of DPM and im trying to install in each server.

    My question is:

Is there any whitepaper where it shows how to upgrade?

Is only 2007 needs to install agents? or i have to reinstall the agent even when i upgrade from RC and RTM?

Do i have to create the protection group or every setting will still there when i upgrade?

    Regards,

    LA

  • Hey LA,

Just download the advisor from here: http://blogs.technet.com/b/dpm/archive/2010/02/26/upgrade-advisor-for-dpm-2010-now-available.aspx

It is an excel sheet and you will be able to select what your current setup is and to what version you want to go.  It is even better then a white paper because it will give you steps to perform.

If you do an upgrade, you won't need to recreate your protection groups, everything will stay as configured.  The agents will need to upgrade, and if you are coming from a 2007 version, then you will need to reboot the protected servers.

    Cheers,

    Mike
