Project 2013 Trial 32-bit download RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm trying to download the trial version of Project 2013 32-bits but after hitting the download button, it redirects me on the "TN TechNet Evaluation Center" page instead of launching the download tool.

If I follow the same procedure with just modifying the version with 64-bits, I can download without any issue the img file but I can't use it as Office 32-bits is installed on my computer.

Does anyone encounter the same issue ? Could you please resolve this problem ?

    Thanks !

  • I just tried and found same problem when trying to download 32bit. Later tried 64 bit and it asked me install download manager. Again tried the 32bit and this time the download worked.

Can you please try to download 32 bit again from same system and check if getting problem as I was able to download now, may be the toggling from 64bit to 32bit is helping.

The bit selection for download is available in the 'http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/hh973401.aspx'

What version of the software would you like to download?

32bit link for me looked like: 'http://care.dlservice.microsoft.com/download/6/6/2/662A612F-B3E9-4A94-9396-C92F656BA100/ProjectProfessional_x86_en-us.img?lcid=1033'

  • Hello,

Thanks for your answer. I have tried again :

1/ Downloading the 32-bit version => after hitting the "download" button, I return to the "TN TechNet Evaluation Center" page (http://technet.microsoft.com/fr-fr/evalcenter)

2/ Modifying the "version" and downloading the 64-bit version => start of the download

3/ Modifying the "version" and downloading the 32-bit version => after hitting the "download" button, I return to the "TN TechNet Evaluation Center" page

4/ Trying your link => after hitting the "download" button, I return to the "TN TechNet Evaluation Center" page (http://technet.microsoft.com/fr-fr/evalcenter)

So if it's working for you, it should be a problem from my computer or from my account but I can't find out what it is. I can try to do it from an other computer but I couldn't do it before tomorrow evening.

  • Hello again,

I've now try to download the 32-bit trial version with :

    - The same computer from an other place

    - An other computer from an other place

And the result is still the same :

    - 64-bit => The download starts without any issue.

    - 32-bit => I return on the home page of TechNet.

Could you please help me ???

  • I've just tested the download (32 bit) using Firefox and all worked fine.  What browser are you using and do you have ActiveX blocked?
    Thursday, July 4, 2013 3:19 PM
  • I'm using Firefox 22.0.

About ActiveX, I don't know if it's blocked or not but as the 64 bit download is working, I guess this shouldn't be the issue.

Could you tell me how to know if ActiveX is blocked or not ?

  • I just tried with IE8 and the same issue occurs.

As soon as I clicked on the "download" button, a new window opens using the link

and then it goes directly onto the "TN TechNet Evaluation Center" home page.

  • Well the curious thing is when I went to your link the download started automatically.

Are you confident that the ability to download software is not blocked administratively on your machine?

  • It may but I wonder why I could download the 64-bit version and not the 32-bit.

I'll try to download it at home tonight with my private computer and see what happens.

    Thanks for your help !

  • I've tried at home with a computer where I am administrator and with ActiveX activated.

    Same results as always.

I've also used the Live account of my girlfriend but no success. However still no issue with the 64-bit version.

I finally tried to download the english / french / german / portugese version but still the same behavior.

I really don't know what happens as it seems not te be linked to my computer / account / network connection / rights / active x / ...

Could you give me the link you've got when you succeed to download the 32-bits version ? Is there an other way to get the img file ?

  • As I see you are getting redirected from  'http://care.dlservice.microsoft.com/download' to 'http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/evalcenter' - I was able to repro by adding 'http://care.dlservice.microsoft.com/download' in trusted zone.

Also, I found 64bit was able to download when I was having above issue.

In fiddler I could see a 302. with redirect to TechNet.

    <html><head><title>Object moved</title></head><body>

    <h2>Object moved to <a href="http://technet.microsoft.com/evalcenter">here</a>.</h2>

Would you please check if 'http://care.dlservice.microsoft.com/download' is added in any security zone and if not try adding to Trusted zone and check.

Also if you could try without using proxy with some alternate internet connection.

  • I've just added 'http://care.dlservice.microsoft.com/download' as an exception in order to have no problem but I'm still redirected to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/evalcenter

As for the proxy idea, this is not the problem because I tried yesterday to download the version from home where I've no proxy but the result was the same.

Here is an overview of what I've tried :

    - Different computers

    - Different user accounts

    - Different internet connection (with and without proxy / with or without wifi)

    - Different language version

    - Utilization of the direct link and not the "download" button

=> I've got the same result : OK for 64-bit version / NOK for 32-bit version

  • When you are redirected is it hanging on the download manager?  Exactly what is happening when you are re-directed to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/evalcenter ?

    Friday, July 5, 2013 2:34 PM
  • When I click on the "download" button, a new windows opens and the page remains blank until I'm redirected to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/evalcenter.

i thought about a problem with the download manager but I've no problem with the 64-bit version.

  • Unfortunatelly I have the same problem, 32bit version does only redirect, 64bit version leads to downloadmanager and works fine.

I tried with Win7 IE10 with and without tracking on/off, Win7 Firefox, WinXP IE8 in or not in compatibility mode. Allways the same behaviour.

  • The problem is back. I can't download the 32-bit version of Project 2013.

  • Hi everyone, When Microsoft ask you to log in with your Microsoft account, one of the questions is which version you want to download, 32bit or 64bit. If you just click next, next, next, you will automatically download the 64 bit version by default. I hope this helps.
