Simplest way to add FORM login for SharePoint 2010? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am doing some integration work with SharePoint 2010, and I need to configure my test SharePoint2010 instance to provide FORM login, so I was wondering what is the "SIMPLEST" way to add a simple FORM login?

I've been followng various information such as:

    http://www.sharepointchick.com/archive/2010/05/06/configuring-claims-and-forms-based-authentication-for-use-with-an.aspx

but after I create the website, it says to edit the web.config but when I look in the web.conf, there are not tags with "LdapMember" and "LdapRole", so I am basically stuck.

I've tried creating new website numerous times, making sure that I have the right options configured, but never get a web.config that has that LDAP stuff in it.

Can someone explain why this is not working?  Or maybe even better yet, is there a simpler way to just add the FORM login to the SharePoint?

    Thanks!

    Jim

  • Hi Jim,

The tags with “LdapMember" and "LdapRole” do not exist in web.config file by default.

You need to add the <Providers> tags manually in the web.config file.

And in the link you provided, you need to paste the XML directly below <system.web> entry in web.config file.

You can also follow the steps in the official article below for more details:
