FIM Question on Permanent employee and Non-employee RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have an employee that used to be permanent, but is now a contractor working for us. Currently we are using his old permanent account to work so there is no disruption to his work.

Is there a way to keep the same AD object without breaking FIM? Or do we need to set up another AD account with a different networkID, employee ID, etc...

  • The short answer is "yes", you can use the same account, but it really depends on your specific system configuration, and the way your organisation operates.

FIM could be configured to delete AD accounts when a user is no longer an active permanent employee, it could be configured to disabled them, it could be configured to do nothing at all. Similarly, within your organisation contractors might go into HR, or they might go into a separate system, or there (most likely) might be no tracking done at all.
