Resource task end date RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello

    We use Project Professional 2010.

A resource does not want a project's tasks to show on his timecard.

I have zeroed out his remaining work hours and changed the end date for his task, which always works.

After I save & publish the project, the task end date reverts back to what it was before I changed it.

Any suggestions what I should choose? We have "manually scheduled" checked.

    Thank you!

  • Hi,

First of all, you should not use manully scheduled tasks with resources for timesheeting purpose. It will cause unexpected behavior as you are experiencing. I'd suggest you to switch to automatic task mode and try again.

That being said, have you changed the end date for the assignment itself from the task form/schedule? Are you sure there is no actual work in the future of the end date specified?

    Hope this helps,

  • Hi,

Following on Guillaume's answer, I would ask the resource to submit one of the timesheets (assuming you are using single entry mode) where he/she changed the assignment finish date and the remaining work reduced to 0 or % completed set to 100

This way you will have a recoding in the task assignments history.

Once the task update has been accepted and project published, the task should not appear in any subsequent timesheets

    Hope this helps
