name of installation folder was the issue. i had name:
SW_DVD5_Sys_Ctr_ConfigMgrClt_ML_2012_MultiLang_Client_SCEP_MLF_X17-95285
and changed to:
CM2012
It helps
.. so it is better install from media then filesystem.

I've seen the same error http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/bgharbi/archive/2011/10/17/configmgr-2012-could-not-connect-or-execute-sql-query.aspx
You have to configure SQL Server to listen on TCP (1433) http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms177440(v=sql.105).aspx

What does the logfile (C:\ConfigMgrSetup.log) tell exactly? Please post more than just a single line.

There is no SP2 for 2008 R2. You should install SP1 and Cumulative Update 6.

The entry to verify the Condigration manager console is "expected" if you are installing on a clean server.
At what point in the process is this happening? Is this a popup during the installation wizard? What is the exact error message?

the error is: could not connect or execute sql query. View log for more info
I didn't try much as I have no idea where to start looking, in the logs besides the registry mention, there is no other pointer

If you haven't yet - try FlowMaN's link. The console message you are getting is not an error, it is the designed behavior if there is no console installed on the system. Most of the time when I've seen this its the Dynamic ports issue.

It looks like if you're using a Named SQL instance instead of Default SQL instance, then port 1433 won't work, even static. So now I moved my named instance to listen to port 4022, and it passed the above error. Not intuitive, but there you have it...

Voytas,
I made the change to set the static port for both the IP address and under IPAll:TCP Port in order to get past this error. In my enviroment I had the latter value blank and once I put in the port I was using for the SCCM SQL Instance things started to hum along as expected.
