Unable to Deloy Window 7 (32bits)

    Question

  • I'm using sing MDT 2013 6.3.8443.1000 with Windows Kits ADK v.1803, I am able capture and deploy successful from both Window 7 (64bits) and Window 10 (64bits) on the model Lenovo T470 (20JM). For Window 7 (32Bits) I am able to capture through MDT but I encounter a problem when I try to deploy Window 7 (32Bits) through WinPE. on the installation it will stuck on Running action: Format and partition Disk (BIOS)/ Preparing partition 2... for around few minutes and it will go this this error page showing FAILURE (7706): ERROR! Drive C: was not Found! Lite touch deployment failed, Return Error Code = 2147467259 0x80004005. I had Download Win PE3.1 through Lenovo and have the Driver injected on Windows PE as well as the 2 hotfix KB2990941 and KB3087873 patched.
I didn't know what I am doing wrong. I have even download the NVME SSD driver and manually install into the window 7 images before capture.
Anyone got any solution or what am I doing wrong.

  • Adding drivers before capture won't work because sysprep removes all drivers. You need to add your drivers to the Out-of-Box-Drivers so they can be injected and you also need to add the storage/controller drivers to your WinPE profile if you're using one.

See: MDT 2013 Lite Touch Driver Management

  • I have injected the storage driver in. but I still encounter the same problem as mention above. may I know will OS bios firmware version affect the installation? currently my Lenovo T470 ME Firmware Version is 11.8.50.3425.

  • When you added the storage drivers to WinPE, did you update the deployment share to build a new boot image? You must do that.

  • Yes, I have make a habit when ever I make any changes, I will update my deployment share. Wonder anyone can Enlighted me can Lenovo T470 can be Deploy with Windows 7 32bit OS Through MDT. I have read some article online that Windows 32 bit will not work with NVMe SSD through MDT, so you must use 64 bit. can anyone help me to verify this statement is true? so far I have only one model for testing and I am kindly running out of time.

  • Is there a specific reason you're trying to use a 32bit OS on a system with 8GB of RAM? A 32bit OS would only be able to address 3.5GB of that.

If you really want to use Windows 7 32bit on a modern computer, you'll need to add:
Update to add native driver support in NVM Express in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2

"0x0000007E" Stop error after you install hotfix 2990941 in Windows 7 SP1 or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1

It might be hard to get it working as mainstream support for Windows 7 ended in 2015. You might need to contact Lenovo to see if they have the needed drivers, but seeing as Windows 7 isn't sold or supported for that model they probably won't be able to help.
