Client uninstall/install with a Batch RRS feed

  • Question

  • Guys

We set a new SCCM enviroment and we are moving slowly the clients there.  The clients have an old Client version from the old Site Server, and we are trying to figure it out the best way to bring the clients to the new one without restarting.  Looks like pushing it from the new site with the Uninstall option first its not working properly,  but manual install after manually removing the client looks to be working fine, or pushing after the client was removed works too. This client have a DP site already set in the new enviroment, and it have the boundary set already too using Active Directory.  Feel free to give me any other advice of how to install it on my 500 clients that i have to migrate spread around the globe.

So i have set a Batch scrip i copied the file over one of the clients, the batch installer and the new sccm client its in the folder im excecuting the scrip.

He is what the script have, i excecute in my Test using pstools

    c:\Windows\ccmsetup\ccmsetup.exe /uninstall
    rd /s /q c:\Windows\ccmsetup
    ccmsetup.exe /noservice /forceinstall /BITSPriority:FOREGROUND SMSSITECODE=RBI

This is what im getting in the ccmsetup.log

Why? There's no reason this shouldn't work.

I don't think your new site's info is properly published in AD.

    > "IF I MANUALLY SET THE MP:IDCSCCM02,   i get a little far in the logs, but it fail anyway"

/mp does *not* set the MP. /MP sets the MP for ccmsetup to query to get content. To tell the client agent which MP to initially use, you need to set the public property SMSMP.

There's nothing wrong with the second log snippet.

Why are you using /noservice though?

  • how can i troubleshoot the the AD part Sandy?  Is it somehow that i have 2 Different SCCM sites (the old site that we still do not remove and the new one we set a month ago) messing things up?. The /noservice i got it from a forum that it was a recommended way but please correct me.

  • i just removed the /noservice line and looks like its working Sandy! you have a weird way to make fun of my comments always and help me at the same time.  Thanks, please guide me just to check the AD part.
