Internet Explorer 11 Crashes on start RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey Guys

I unfortunately have the problem that my Internet Explorer Crashes at start instant without any error Messages. I got a Windows 8.1 64Bit version, where I altered the registry and changed the Install-Path of the programs to my second hard drive.  I now changed that back but unfortunately Internet Explorer 11 still doesn't start up.  I unfortunately don't have any event log on this, even with altering the registry i don't get any information in my event log (I added the DWORD like descripted here: http://www.windowsnetworking.com/kbase/WindowsTips/Windows7/AdminTips/Miscellaneous/EnablingeventloggingforInternetExplorer.html). I also tried to do this:

    - Reinstalling the Internet Explorer by disabling / enabling the Internet Explorer under Control Panel -> Features

    - Starting INternet Explorer without any Addons (iexplore.exe -extoff)

    - Checking for Updates

    - Reinstalling the newest Update for the INternet Explorer 11

I got an Application Event regarding the Internet Explorer, which may cal help:

  • Hi,

    17.
Pfad der fehlerhaften Anwendung: G:\ProgrammeNEW\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE
    18.
    Pfad des fehlerhaften Moduls: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll

    there are 2 solutions,

1.Restore the backup that you made before making such a radical change.

    2. Nuke and pave your machine and start again.

    Regards.

  • Hi,

We can also do the system file check and repair to fix this issue, please run command below as administrator:

    SFC /SCANNOW

If this issue still persists, we may need to do the system repair:

How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 & Windows Server 2008 R2

    Hope this could be helpful.

  • Also, if the issue persists you could try to capture a user mode dump of the crash and see if any further useful information can be obtained on the crash.

You can configure Windows to create user-mode dumps. Create a System Restore Point first.

If you copy and paste the following in Notepad and save as a .reg file (save with the .reg extension and give it any name such as iedump.reg), then right-click the .reg file and select "Merge" to add to the registry, a .dmp file at the time iexplore.exe crashes should be created in the C:\CrashDumps folder:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\iexplore.exe]
    "DumpFolder"=hex(2):43,00,3a,00,5c,00,43,00,72,00,61,00,73,00,68,00,44,00,75,\
    00,6d,00,70,00,73,00,00,00

After Internet Explorer (iexplore.exe) crashes, can you then make the .dmp file available (provide link) via a public folder on OneDrive or similar site?

Here's a link on using OneDrive:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/onedrive/share-file-folder

More info on collecting user-mode dumps:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb787181(VS.85).aspx

To stop the creation of the user mode dump files run the following registry file:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\iexplore.exe]

You can delete the C:\CrashDumps folder anytime.
