USMT : different sites - always same server RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey,

in our company we have a couple of sites, where i set up USMT.

My problem is that USMT always runs from the same server, even tho im using another boundarygroup.

Are there some extra settings i have to do?

    thanks in advance

  • Are you using State Migration Points in each site? If so you must associate each SMP with it's appropriate boundary group.

  • for testing i set up state migration points on two different sites, yes. how do i do that?

    The settings already are:

    Site 1:

    Boundary Group Site 1

    Site 2:

    Boundary Group Site 2

when i start USMT from a Site 2 PC it still stores data to Site 1...

  • Yes, but have you added SMP1 as a site system in BG1 and SMP2 as a site system in BG2?

And are all your boundaries correctly added to your BGs?

  • yes i did.

boundaries are working fine - if i deploy an OS in site 2 it uses the right server.

i just checked the server from site 2 and the storage folder has been created correctly..

so it kinda has to be a boundary problem?

  • okay it deffo is a boundary problem. i only checked locationservices.log - where the right site is displayed

now i took a look into execmgr and saw that its all downloading from site 1 :(

  • i tested now with several software. if i install software from softwarecenter its always the right site.

if i run usmt Task sequence its the wrong site server... what kind of problem is this?

i only have 1 managementpoint.. could that be the problem?

    please help, thank you

  • Hi,

Make sure the DP in this site contain the USMT package. If the boundary is right, Client should not connect to the content server residing in another boundary.
