Moving ADFS DB to a Remote SQL Instance. RRS feed

Answers

  • Hi John,

It is absolutely possible to use a remote sql instance as described in the wiki article as below:

"In SQLServer\SQLInstance below, type in the appropriate SQL Server and SQL Server instance name where you are migrating the configuration data to. "

You do of course need to make sure that you have the appropriate rights(sa) on the sql server, in order to follow the steps. You also need to give your ADFS service account rights to the adfs databases in the SQL server.

  • As Johan mentioned, this is supported as a setup and you need to take care about the SQL permissions.

For ADFS needed SQL permissions, please see "SQL Server" Section in this article: http://blog.msresource.net/2011/05/23/deploying-a-federation-server-with-a-sql-database/

More if you ask them in ADFS forum: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/Geneva/threads
