    I have a ConfigMgr 2012 system, when I go to check the Monitoring -> Overview -> System Status -> Component Status screen, and the Icon column shows all green circles with a check mark, I assume everything is ok and move on.

    I noticed a couple of weeks ago that the SMS_SITE_COMPONENT_MANAGER component has a green circle, however, in the Type column, there is a message that reads "Component Not Installed by Site Component Manager". When I check the Message Viewer, it says "This component started.".

    Could someone please tell me if this component not installed message is something that needs to be troubleshot, or is it a bug?

    If the message read "Monitored Thread Component" or something similar to what all the other components read, I wouldn't be concerned.

    There are some noisy logs in ConfigMgr.  The message you saw is nothing to be concerned about.

    Isn't it logical that sitecomp can't install itself?

    Thank you Nicholas.  I just wanted to make sure my system is 100% healthy, and I still think the message is very misleading.
