  • Question

  • for one of my user Alerts/Reminders dont appear

i checked with end user, he says he is getting alerts but in last one month he did not receive 3 alerts and these are important for them. they get alerts/reminders daily. so how do i troubleshoot this issue. we are using exchange2016 and outlook2016

i was reading  outlook.exe /cleanreminders but i am afraid using it.
will outlook.exe /cleanreminders will repair corrupted reminders ?
will it cause any issues to current running reminders?
Will it dismiss any current reminders(lets say if it dismisses is there any way to restore them)

  • Hi,

    >>then user said 3 people use the same mailbox on 3 computers.

This issue only happen to this specific account, right?

Currently, I'm afraid that we cannot directly check which alert is corrupted in Outlook. If you have more concern about this, you may create a new profile and then run the command-line switch on these three clients to see the result.

  • Hi,

Does this issue only happen to these 3 reminders?

As far as I know, /cleanreminders command-line switch is used to clear and regenerate reminders. It could help repair corrupted reminders In Outlook and won't affect current running reminders.

If issue persists, please try creating a new profile to the result.

Any updates, please feel free to tell me.

    Regards,

    Perry

  • Till now this issue has happened only to 3 reminders in last two weeks but we cannot afford more as this is critical. creating outlook profile is ok but i want to try /cleanreminders, again the only concern it shud not cause issue to current reminders or dismiss any reminders

  • Hi,

Have you tried the suggestion above? Does this issue still occur?

    >>will outlook.exe /cleanreminders will repair corrupted reminders ?

As we discussed above, outlook.exe /cleanreminders command is used to clear and regenerate reminders. It could help repair corrupted reminders In Outlook.

    >>will it cause any issues to current running reminders?
    >>Will it dismiss any current reminders(lets say if it dismisses is there any way to restore them)

This command-line switch won't affect or dismiss current running reminders.

If you still have concern about this issue, I'd like to recommend you to create a new profile for this user and then check the result.

    Regards,

    Perry

  • Thank you

i have adviced user to run outlook.exe /cleanreminder, then user said 3 people use the same mailbox on 3 computers. i was asked a question why did alert did not appear, i told it might be corrupted. the next question to me was on which computer alert did not get  generated as they dont remember. and how can we  know that alert is corrupted in our mailbox as we dont want to miss the alerts. how do i justify their questions.

auditing is enabled for the mailbox , is there any way i can look into.
