Project Server 2007 SP3 and SQL Server 2008 SP2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are currently using WFE (Project Server 2007 SP2 with WSS 3.0 SP2) on Windows Server 2008 SP2 (Virtual machine) and DB server (SQL Server 2008 SP2) on Windows Server 2008 SP2 (Physical machine). We would like to apply SP3 to WFE (Project Server 2007 and WSS 3.0) to resolve some known issues on SP2, and I would like to check if there is any compatibility issue.

  • Hi YukoGrisius,

Project Server SP3 and SQL server SP2 are totally different service packs; you are safe to install SP3 on WFE.

  • Hi YukoGrisius,

As Hrishi said, you will not see any compatibility issues with PS 2007 SP3 and SQL 2008 SP2. One thing I would suggest though is to apply the service pack to a non production farm first, UAT that system then apply to Prod. Also make sure you have full roll back plans in place should you need to roll the farm back to the previous state.

    Thanks

  • Hi PWMather (Paul),

Thank you for your answer and suggestions. Yes, we will try on DEV environment followd by UAT, and we will make sure that we have full roll back plans in place before SP3 application.
