Issues with COM plug-in in App-V 5.1 running in Office 2016 Click-to-Run RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hello,

We have environment with Office 2016 Click-To-Run and App-V 5.1.

We are trying to create App-V 5.1 package with COM plugin. When package is published plugin is not visible in Office and is not working with Office 2016 Click-To-Run. Package was tested with other Office versions and no issue detected. No issue detected with other plugins, such as .XLA or something like this.

Could you please assist us and provide information why we fail? Is App-V 5.1 COM plugins compatible with Office Click-To-Run version?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hello Roy,

No, it is not virtualized. Office is installed into Golden Image.

  • There is a known issue with O365 C2R installed locally with appv addins. To solve this apply the following:

    1) Create the regkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ClickToRun\OverRide
    dword: AllowJitvInAppvVirtualizedProcess=1
    2) if running on 64-bit windows: export the full hive HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\ClickToRun\REGISTRY, and import it into HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Office\ClickToRun\REGISTRY. This must be done every time office updates. I've got a script which determines if office is updated or not and performs the following:

    reg export 'HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\ClickToRun\REGISTRY' 'temp.reg'
    reg delete 'HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\ClickToRun\REGISTRY' /reg:32 /f
    reg import 'temp.reg' /reg:32
Now you should be able to use RunVirtual or the /appvve-switch and hook an addin (or connectiongroup with addins) into office.
