Why are there separate Build Team for Resource Plan and Project Schedule? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Separate Build Team feature for Resource Plan and Schedule is actually confusing. If I have created team once, why should I re do it again. Is there a reason for separate Build Teams.

  • Hi,

This is by design. The resource plan and the project plan are designed to achieve different purposes in terms of capacity planning. The project plan should give a precise visibility on the resource demands on a short term horizon with nominative resources, where as the resource plan generally gives the resource demand in man-month with generic resources (skills) on a mid/long term horizon. This is why you generally have different resources in both plan which you don't want to mix.

    Hope this helps,

  • Just to add on to Guillaume's accurate reply, you can copy the team from Resource Plan to the project schedule.
