The presence icon not working properly in moss 2007 people search results page

  • Hi All,

In the people search results page, the communicator icon comes next to each person name. But when a user scroll down the page and hover over the presence icon, the icon moves down as shown in the image below. (Note - we have changed the view of the search results as per the requirements). Please help in rectifying the issue.

PS- not sure if this is the right forum to post the question. Please mention the correct forum, in case posted in the wrong forum.

    Hi Ejsumi,

According to your description, you have changed the view of the search results as per the requirements, may be have some styles was influenced. So, you can have check the page of the search result. I only give some advices to you.

    1. Verify that there are no double mapping key
    2.  IIS reset or recycle the pools
    3. Clear your browser.

  • Hi Jack,

We tried it with removing all the customization and using the search page as is. But still the issue persists.

We also created a OOB publishing site and checked on the people results, if the issue is happening. And it comes the same way as shown above.

Is there a way to rectify the same.

    Hi Ejsumi,

I think this is only some styles was influenced, and this is maybe the browser issue. Because you create a new site, and the site is same issue with you said. So, may be SharePoint itself style was modified. After my search, SharePoint return the icon like the following code. So , I can only doubt is the problem of style at present.

internal static string GetUserPawnMarkup(string sipAddress, string suffix)

        return("<span><img border=\"0\" height=\"12\" src=\"/_layouts/images/imnhdr.gif\" onload=\"IMNRC('" + SPHttpUtility.EcmaScriptStringLiteralEncode(sipAddress) + "')\" ShowOfflinePawn=\"1\" alt=\"\" id=\"MWP_pawn_" + suffix +"\"/></span>");

the code is from the following link.

  • Sorry for the late reply.

With a bit of debugging we found that if we change the mode to Quirks mode, the icon issue would go off.

By default, what is given is IE8/IE7 standards mode and it works fine except for the above issue.

When we change it to Quirks mode, it is affecting other aspects in the UI, so we have kept the Standards mode itself.

So, is there a way to solve the issue without switching to Quirks mode.

  • hi All,

We resolved the issue by keeping it in Quirks mode itself.

For the other UI issues, we fixed it.

So now eveything is working fine in Quirks mode.
