MIM 2016 SP1 install missing UTF-8 (65001) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All!

I am running MIM 2016 SP1 on a 2016 Server VM. MSSQL 2014 (Collation: SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS) SSDT 2015. All SQL fields are NVARCHAR.
When I run a refresh schema, UTF-8 (65001) doesn't appear in the code page list. All of my data in from SSDT is using Unicode string [DT_WSTR] Notepad shows the CSV file is UTF-8.
UTF-8 is available on other client setups but missing on this one.
Anyone have any ideas why MIM would be missing UTF-8 while other applications on this box can use UTF-8?
I have fully uninstalled all related applications and reinstalled.

Thanks and let me know if you need anymore information to help figure this out.

  • This was an incompatibility issue with SQL Server 2014-SP1 and MIM 2016 - UTF-8 is only supported on SQL Server 2014-SP2 and above.
As this clients SQL was SP1, I had to down-grade to FIM 2010.
To add insult to injury, the server they provided was a 2016 box and FIM 2010 is not supported. So, I needed to start from ground 0 and rebuild everything on a 2012 box.
    Lesson learned...
