Way to show that baselined dates are at risk RRS feed

  • Question

  • If dependencies to baseline finish dates creep right, then although the baseline date will not change, the risk level changes and these tasks are tracked more closely.

Is there a way to write formula that would highlight these baseline dates risk level of slipping has increased?

I have a formula that displays if there are differences in the baseline and finish dates - could the intensity of the colour change based on the risk level?

  • X_AEG,

It sounds like you already have a formula although you don't tell us what it is.

As far as "intensity of color", what color are your referring to, the task name, the Gantt bar, or what?

Generally you can't change font color with a formula in a custom field. I suppose you could set up a formula to set one or more flag fields depending on your "risk" formula and then create custom Gantt Bars for each flag. But if you want to change the font color of the task name, for instance, you will need some VBA.

Why not just use the Tracking Gantt display. It shows schedule dates and baseline dates in a very readable graphical form. Or perhaps just add the Start and/or Finish Variance fields to any task view.
