Power query referencing 7 times - very slow RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm currently designing a spreadsheet. For this spreadsheet I'm making use of several queries in Power query. The current structure is like this. I make a connection-only, to a base file on my work directory. It's a Excel file with data about our stores. This file I reference 7 times (query 2 - 8). Each reference consists of a different filters, to result in a table for each district manager. The results of the 7 queries are loaded as a table into my excel sheet.

I was hoping, that power bi connects once to the data file (query 1) and then uses this connection to very quickly apply filters and give me output of query 2-8. Now when I refresh my query, it is pretty slow to refresh.

Is there any performance difference between using "reference" compared to "duplicate"? If not, are there other things I can do to improve my performance for a basic task like this?

    Thanks in advance for answering.

    With kind regards,

    Rick de Groot
