How do I Unhide Hidden folders? RRS feed

  • I was typing an essay on my school computer when it crashed.  After the computer rebooted my essay was gone.  I read that showing hidden files can sometimes help you find a file that was autosaved.  I went into the public homework folder and clicked hidden files under Attributes.  It asked me if I wanted to apply that to this folder and all subfolders and I stupidly said yes.  Of course that hid the entire folder and everyones saved documents.  Please help me.  How do I unhide the folder?  Since it is a public computer not all the settings are available to me.  I'm surprised I was able to hide the folder at all.  Is it gone forever now?  I believe I was using Microsoft Office Word 2007 on Windows XP.

  • Hi,

    Try following steps:

    1.  Double click on My Computer.

    2.  Click on the Tools menu in the top menu bar.

    3.  Click on Folder Options...

    4.  Click on the View Tab

    5.  Click on the little button next to "Show hidden files and folders" (in the Advanced Settings box)

    6.  Click OK.
