Office 2010 proofing tools and multi language proofing tools installation issues. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm trying to create an installation for capturing using mdt. I have Office 2010 pro plus and now have the multi language office 2010 proofing tools.

We only deploy the English UK Office to all our UK and overseas office, We then offer proofing tools languages to users in any of our offices.

I want to create an install of Office with just English UK proofing tools, then to create config xml files for each proofing tool language.

But when installing Office I always get the companion languages installed, Even if I turn off the feature for proofing tools in the Office setup.

I'd like no proofing tools to be installed during the office install and control the proofing tools through the separate Multi language product.

No matter what I do during office setup the companion language proofing keep installing.

  • Hi Phil,

An Office 2010 installation requires at least one language to be installed as a part of the installation. You will not be able to install Office 2010 without at least one proofing tool language installed.

Also, I am not sure what you mean when you say you want to install the English UK language. So far I know, there is only one English language available as a language pack and PTK, which is en-us.

You can look up the list of languages and identifiers available at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc179219.aspx

    Hope this help
