DFS FileServers RRS feed

  • Question

  • Guys, good morning

I have 2 File Server and DFS namespace, with replication smoothly.

However some folders are with the wrong timing, and very strange, for example:

    Fileserver01 - Notifications folder contains 1362 files
    Fileserver02 - Notifications folder contains 1362 files

The problem is when commands list the amount of files directly from the folder (right button on the folder - properties), the amount of non knocks files, now if I open each folder and select all the files the amount hits.

    Examples:
Folder notifications fileserver01 - I right button and go to properties - shows 1362 files
Folder notifications fileserver02 - I right button and go to properties - shows 1405 files

What is this problem? and how to solve?

    Thank you

  • Hi,

    Sorry for the delay.

The command line it should be \\server2\dfs \\server1\dfs /L /log:x:\log.txt /e. Or all subfolders are skipped. Sorry for it.

Also please noticed that it could also be some temp files which be filtered automatically by DFSR. Just check fir the log in this command line to see the result.

  • Hi,

So from the right click and Properties of each folder, fileserver02 has more files than fileserver01.

Is there any excluded file type set? Also by default DFSR will exclude some types of files or files with specific attributes from replication.

You can run a robocopy \\server2\dfs \\server1\dfs /L /log:x:\log.txt to generate a report. It should list all files which are different between your 2 servers. Then you can check if they are all same file type or anything specific on these files.
