Restrict List Settings Access but allow Create Project on Custom List RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a Project Web App with an 'ideas' custom list. Using the Project Server 2013 built-in feature, it is possible to create a project from one of the list entries.

I need to remove the ability for users to access the 'List Settings' section while still retaining the ability to create a project from one of the list items.

I have been able to remove the access to 'List Settings' by deselecting the 'Manage Lists in Project Web App' permission at the group level.  However, in every scenario that I checked, this also disables the 'Create Project' feature.

Are the two features directly controlled by that one permission?  How can i achieve my goal of allowing create project on a custom list entry but not allow list settings access?

  • An update - our findings have been that the 'Manage Lists in Project Web App' will disable the 'Create Project' button.  We are using a workflow on the list to create the project programmatically.
