Where can I find the Project Site newsfeed in the reporting or published database? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Looking for a vanilla/native method to add current comments/status. Newsfeed latest comment may be a good way? Thoughts?

  • Hello,

The newsfeed is a SharePoint feature that doesn't reach the Reporting / Published database in Project Server - this data would be in the SharePoint Content database but would need to be accessed via the correct API - not direct T-SQL in the SP content database. https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/jj163237.aspx - might help.

  • Thanks Paul. Do you have any suggestions for a simple to access, (i.e. in the db for ease of reporting purposes), commentary-based text field I can add to each report? Ideally a timestamped one that doesn't get wverwritten each day/week/month I add a new update?

  • Hello,

If you want this available in the Project Server Reporting database the only option would be to use a multiline project level enterprise custom text field and advise users to date / time stamp their comments and not remove other comments. Otherwise you could look at using a SharePoint list but it is not supported to query that data directly with T-SQL, you would need to use the SP API's if you wanted to see this in a custom report.
