Intercepting call to apple-touch-icon.png RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a mobile based application that is residing behind UAG for authentication.  If the user adds this URL https://trunkname to the home page of their iOS device, what happens is that right after authentication, the next call from the device goes to https://trunkname/apple-touch-icon.png   to which UAG returns "The URL you requested is not associated with any application".

    The issue is also described in this post on the apple discussion boards: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4598613

    I tried putting in a manual URL replacement of

    URL  /apple-touch-icon\.png to URL /default.aspx of an internal server, but still I don't seem to be catching this call.  Any ideas?

  • Partial success by implementing a section of code in the trunkname1PostPostValidate.inc file. The PostPostValidate mechanism is described in one of Ben Ari's blog posts: http://blogs.technet.com/b/ben/archive/2011/08/18/uag-and-your-own-code.aspx

    The code snippet I used was this:

    <%

    if (instr(g_orig_url,"apple-touch-icon") > 0) then

      g_orig_url = "http://applicationhost/default.aspx"

    end if

    %>

    Hope this helps.

  • Thanks for getting back to me, I'll try what you suggest. What is very strange in my case is that we are geting this error on android tablet devices, apple devices don't get it!
