Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable package RRS feed

  • Question

  • Why aren't these redistributable packages distributed with Microsoft Windows as default and why are they not backwards compatible? There are even separate x86 and x64 builds for it. This is creating a mess of approximately 20 separate installations in the installed apps section of Windows. Also this is creating a potential problem if some of the developers do not include the vcredist installer with their software thus getting an error of msvcr...dll not found or even worse less explanatory error.
