untrusted AD monitoring sce 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Does SCE 2010 only support "single" server deployment in unstrusted AD as workgroup server install (no gw or other easy way) and does it recognise untrusted AD and monitor it as it was it´s own AD

  • Hello Pjot,

Supporting the management of workgroup-joined computers in System Center Essentials 2010 requires additional configuration on the Essentials management server, as well as additional preparation on the managed computers.

For more information, read the articles below:

How to Install Agents on Workgroup-Joined Computers in Essentials

System Center Essentials 2010 cannot manage the computers installed in an untrusted domain (unless this is a workgroup).

    Thanks,

  • I am aware of the procedure about certificates for workgroups servers and manual client installation and it works fine. But what I want to know if I deploy agents in an untrusted AD (all servers), would it monitored it as an Active Directory Domain as it does if it is the SCE domain.

  • you have to have domain trusts to manage clients in a domain different than the one sce resides on.

Ok, so I changed my name...you can still call me Tom if you like. It's a...jump...to conclusions...mat.

  • domain trust if I want to automatic deploy agents, I guess ? manage =deploy agent, run task etc.

what I really want to know is there full support for MONITOR untrusted domain (and agents will be deployed to the other domain on all servers)

  • Hello,

System Center Essentials 2010 cannot manage the computers installed in an untrusted domain (unless this is a workgroup). This is by design.

    Thanks,

  • Hi again

Could you please describe the "manage" word . Won´t it get any heartbeat, see it's healthy status, check for WSUS, deploy packages or is this just tasks in SCE console you mean by "manage"
