Major MDT Bug since 2012 RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Have spent nearly a whole afternoon for fixing a MDT Bug that is well known since January, 2013:

    The MDT guys obviously don't know yet that BitLocker is supported in Windows Professional Versions since Windows 8.0. So, the BitLocker Page is never displayed in the MDT Deployment Wizard. For makingt that work, the MDT script ZTIUtility must be manually changed, see

    Can't understand that, can't understand how Microsoft is working and why they are causing so much troubles for their partners with not fixing well known bugs for years.

    That was fixed in September but, it was too late to make it into update 1.

    Logs are very important. Mention any customizations you have made.

  • Still can't understand that.

    It's nearly three years since MS customers started blogging abouth this bug (see my post above). And the bug was already present in the previous version of MDT and in the version before (MDT 2012). And the link you mentioned is not valid:

  • Guess it must have been unique to me... Sorry. This is what I was trying to show you.

    ZTIUtility.vbs has a function to determine if something is a HighEndSKUEx. You can can add a case to the function.
    Search for Function IsHighEndSKUEX

    Modify the function to add PROFESSIONAL as follows:
        Function IsHighEndSKUEx( sSKU )
            ' Windows Ultimate/Enterprise and Server SKU's allow for some
            ' higher-end features, like Bitlocker and Multiple Language Packs.
            select case (ucase(trim(sSKU)))
                case "ULTIMATE", "ULTIMATEE", "ULTIMATEN"
                    IsHighEndSKUEx = TRUE
                    IsHighEndSKUEx = TRUE
                case "PROFESSIONAL", "PROFESSIONALN"
                    IsHighEndSKUEx = TRUE
                case "EDUCATION", "EDUCATIONN"
                    IsHighEndSKUEx = TRUE
                case "HYPERV"
                    IsHighEndSKUEx = TRUE
                case "PRERELEASE"
                    IsHighEndSKUEx = TRUE
                case else
                    If Instr(1, ucase(trim(sSKU)), "SERVER", vbTextCompare) > 0 then
                        IsHighEndSKUEx = TRUE
                        IsHighEndSKUEx = FALSE
                    End if
            End Select
