    How can I do a search to find all documents in a library with the following pattern:

    *-???-5??

    In other words, it doesn't matter how many characters are in front of the first dash (where the asterisk is), but there must be an asterisk and that asterisk must have three characters after it, another dash then it must have a number 5 and then it must have any two characters.

    SahrePoint 2007 doesn't support wildcard search out of the box.  You'll either need to write your own search web part or use one from a third party vendor.  There is a codeplex project available for a wildcard search web part here:
