Email Address policies RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

we are on the move of migrating our exch on premise user to o365.  but we notice a problem.

We have on premise, different emailadress policies for each department

(each department, receives a different email-domain, but we only have 1 exchange environment) based on the AD-attribute company. so the general department (got like username.lastname@deparment1.com), other got like alias@departmenet2.com)

So for the migrated users, this is all still ok, since the email adress policies keep working on the on premise environment.  But we are now creating the new mailboxes already in exchange online, and we can't get this to work since there is no TAB for emailadress policies, and in powershell it seems i miss some functionality...)  Some got any ideas how we can get this to work, otherwise we are forced to stop the migration, since it was our goal to delete all the on premise exchange servers....

    greetings

  • Email address policies are not supported in ExO. Well technically they are, but they only apply to Office 365 Group objects. So in your scenario, the best option is to use custom scripts to provision the users with the correct address(es) and run them periodically to fix any deviations.
